Well, nothing like the first preseason game to work the kinks out.
The New York Jets, playing mainly their second- and third-string players, struggled to get much of anything going in their first preseason game, falling to the Detroit Lions, 23-3.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, the team's de facto starter after Geno Smith's highly publicized injury this week, played one series and went 2-for-3 for 16 yards. He was outshined by Detroit's starting crew, who, behind signal-caller Matthew Stafford, got into the end zone on their first drive via a 35-yard connection to wide receiver Golden Tate.
