Dolphins sign tight end Williams off practice squad

The Miami Dolphins announced Monday they signed tight end Brandon Williams off of their practice squad. In a corresponding move, the team waived safety Jonathan Dowling.

Williams originally signed with the Dolphins practice squad at the end of last month after being waived by the Carolina Panthers. He spent three years with Carolina, appearing in 23 games and catching four passes.

Dowling was signed to the Dolphins' active roster last week after joining the practice squad at the start of the season.
