The New York Jets smelled blood in the water Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
While the series-opening bomb from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Brandon Marshall was one indication of that, another was Gang Green's defensive approach all game long.
It was all about getting after quarterback Ryan Tannehill. And not just with the big men up front.
According to ESPN Stats and Information, the Jets blitzed defensive backs 22 times--the most by any team in five seasons. Cornerback Buster Skrine was a key part of that formula.
The Jets, who beat the Dolphins 27-14, sacked Tannehill (only) three times for 31 yards, but they kept the Miami signal-caller off balance and forced him into errant throws. It's a formula we expect to see the rest of the year from Bowles.
