Rex "personally responsible" for Bills missing playoffs

The Buffalo Bills needed to win their last three games and get a ton of help for a shot at the AFC playoffs.

Sunday, they couldn't help themselves.

Buffalo got trounced by the Washington Redskins in a game that wasn't as close as the 35-25 score indicated, and it is officially out of the playoff hunt. The Bills have now missed the playoffs 16 straight years.

Coach Rex Ryan said at his first press conference with the Bills that the team would make the postseason. He stood by those words after the team fell to 6-8.

"I thought in my heart of hearts we'd make the playoffs," he said. "I feel personally responsible."

Missing the playoffs isn't uncommon for Ryan. In fact, he hasn't recorded a winning season since the New York Jets' 2010 campaign.

The best Buffalo can finish this year is 8-8.
