Jerod Mayo announces retirement on Instagram

New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo is calling it a career.

The eight-year veteran and two-time Pro Bowler announced on Instagram Tuesday he's "retiring a Patriot."

"As my family and I prepare for the future," Mayo wrote, in part, "be sure that the Pats memories will always hold a special place in our hearts."
