The New England Patriots announced Wednesday they have released defensive back Leonard Johnson.
New England signed the 25-year-old in early December after he was released from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' injured reserve list. He appeared in four regular-season games and started three for the Patriots in 2015, tallying seven tackles and three passes defensed.
